A little bit about Bernadette

Bernie graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2001, and  completed a post graduate Masters In Sports Physiotherapy in 2010.

Working in the Australian Defence Force for 15 years, she was responsible for treatment and management of a wide variety of sporting and military injuries. Bernie has extensive experience in Paralympic Sports, having attended the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Tokyo Paralympic with the Australian athletics team. She also supported the Australian team across all sports during the 2017 and 2018 Invictus Games. Most recently she worked with Australian Athletics during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Bernie has completed the AWF Club Weightlifting /Sports Power Coach course.  She has a keen interest in promoting performance, injury risk reduction, and the assessment and management of injuries in the sporting and active populations.

Currently a New South Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Senior Sports Physiotherapist, Bernie’s role includes working with Women’s Water Polo and Athletics. With her studies to become a Specialist Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist (FACP) due to finish in 2023, we are lucky to have someone with so much experience and knowledge on the team.
