FAQ

Can a Sports Dietitian help with disordered eating or RED-S?

Yes. Our Sports Dietitians provide compassionate, evidence-based nutritional counseling for active individuals navigating disordered eating, eating disorders, or Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S). We focus on rebuilding a healthy relationship with food, restoring energy availability, and fueling your body safely for life and performance.

Do you have parking at the Ultimo clinic?

There is paid street parking nearby, and free parking available on Harris St or at the Broadway Shopping Centre. Our clinic is conveniently located near Central Station, light rail stops, and bus routes.

Do you accept Medicare referrals, and do you bulk bill?

We do accept Medicare referrals; however, we do not bulk bill. Payment is required at the time of your appointment. We will submit the Medicare claim on your behalf, with the rebate typically reaching your account within 2-3 days.

What is the Active Female Hub?

The Active Female Hub is a specialised division within our Ultimo clinic that brings together a multidisciplinary team to address the unique physiological and biomechanical needs of women and girls.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting athletic clothing that allows our clinicians to easily assess the injured body part and observe your movement.

How does the clinic help women during perimenopause and menopause?

We offer targeted exercise physiology, physiotherapy, and dietetics to support bone health, muscle retention, joint health, and energy management during hormonal changes.

What is the difference between a Physiotherapist and an Exercise Physiologist?

Physiotherapists typically diagnose and treat acute injuries, while Exercise Physiologists specialise in advanced strength and conditioning and late-stage, sport-specific return-to-play programming.

What does postpartum rehabilitation involve?

We focus on safe, progressive returns to movement, addressing pelvic floor function, core strength, and impact loading so you can confidently return to running, lifting, and sport.

What is criteria-based progression?

Instead of guessing when you are ready to return to your sport, we use specific strength, symmetry, and movement tests to objectively measure your progress before advancing your rehabilitation.

Why is female-specific sports physiotherapy important for my injury recovery?

Women experience unique physiological and biomechanical shifts throughout their lives that directly impact injury risk, strength, and athletic performance. Our specialised women's health and sports physiotherapists at the Ultimo Active Female Hub look beyond the isolated injury. We factor in your hormonal health, bone density, and pelvic floor function to deliver targeted, evidence-based rehabilitation designed specifically for the active female body. We move away from a one size fits all approach to a female specific evidence based approach.
