Yes, progressive strength training is one of the most effective ways to treat bone loss. How does nutrition directly affect my bone density?

Your body requires specific nutritional building blocks to maintain and repair bone tissue. Adequate caloric energy, balanced protein, calcium, and Vitamin D are absolutely critical to support the bone-remodelling cycle and prevent your body from pulling minerals from your bones to fuel daily activity.

Do I need to stop running or doing high-impact activities?

Not necessarily. While temporary load reduction is required if you are recovering from a fracture, complete avoidance of impact is counterproductive. We use objective force testing to evaluate your mechanics and structure a graded return-to-impact program.

Do I need a DEXA scan before beginning treatment?

Not always. While a DEXA scan provides the baseline T-score necessary for a formal diagnosis of osteoporosis, we can safely begin your tailored, load-managed rehabilitation program based on our physical assessment while you wait for scan results.

How much calcium do I actually need to support bone health?

Clinical guidelines recommend most adults consume 1,000 mg of calcium daily, which increases to 1,300 mg for women over 50 and men over 70. Our clinical dietitians will help you achieve this through 3 to 4 daily servings of dairy or calcium-fortified alternatives.
